‘Extortion-type cases rise a tad in Punjab after Lawrence Bishnoi’s interviews’

Following the broadcast of Lawrence Bishnoi’s jail interviews, Punjab witnessed a slight uptick in extortion calls. From March to December 2023, there were 324 registered cases compared to 300 in the preceding nine months. Bathinda district reported the highest number of cases. These findings were presented by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav to the high court.
