Facing debt, farmer, 35, hangs self in Pilibhit

A 35-year-old farmer in Pilibhit district, India, committed suicide due to overwhelming debt. Rajesh Vishwas took his own life by hanging from a tree in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. He was unable to repay a loan of Rs 2.86 lakh for a tractor and faced a hefty electricity bill. The loan company had issued a notice to him, and the electricity department had disconnected his power. Authorities are now considering providing assistance to his family. Rajesh leaves behind his parents, wife, and two young children.
