Farmers jittery across Andhra Pradesh after scanty rains
Farmers in Andhra Pradesh are worried about the lack of rainfall during the monsoon season. The state has registered a deviation of -51.83% in rainfall so far. This has affected farmers in the Krishna and Godavari delta regions, as well as those in upland areas. Farmers who have sowed commercial crops like cotton and tobacco are particularly concerned, as they are relying on borewells and groundwater, which are also depleting. In addition, the possibility of a cyclone in November is causing uncertainty for paddy farmers.
