The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has written to states and vice chancellors of universities, asking them to emulate Delhi University’s decision to allocate two seats to orphan students in each academic program. Delhi University has committed to covering their expenses. The NCPCR chief highlighted this initiative as a template for other universities. 101 students have enrolled in DU colleges under this special category this year, across various programs. The University has about 4,000 seats under this quota.
