For lynching victims’ kin, polls are of little interest

The families of Nasir and Junaid, who were lynched by cow vigilantes in Haryana eight months ago, are still struggling with the aftermath. The upcoming assembly polls hold little interest for them as they wait for justice and try to make ends meet. Junaid’s widow, Saajida, is taking care of her six children and other family members with the money she received from selling their shop and help from neighbors. She is still waiting for a promised job and is unable to use the fixed deposits given to her. The families express their disappointment with the neglect of their region by successive governments.
