Fourth human kill by Corbett tiger in 2 months

A 32-year-old woman from Patrani Kargil village near Nainital was mauled to death by a tiger in the Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR). This marks the fourth human fatality in the reserve since October 18. Earlier, three workers in the reserve were killed by tigers in November and October. This year, Uttarakhand has seen at least 9 human lives lost to tiger attacks, with 4 occurring in CTR alone. The rising cases of human-wildlife conflict are attributed to factors such as rising wildlife population, habitat fragmentation, encroachment of wildlife corridors, and urbanization of fringe forests area.
