Gaza border crossing set to reopen as Israeli troops prepare ground assault

Efforts are underway to reopen the Egyptian-controlled border crossing into Gaza to allow aid to reach the Hamas-controlled strip, which has been heavily bombed by Israel. The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has stated that the Rafah crossing will be reopened, although no specific time has been given. A special envoy for Middle East humanitarian issues has been appointed to work out the details.
