Gaza violence results in nearly 900 new widows: United Nations

According to a UN report, out of the 493,000 women and girls displaced by violence in Gaza, there are estimated to be around 900 new widows. The report also states that over 1 million people, almost half of Gaza’s total population, have been displaced, and civilian infrastructure has been significantly damaged. The study highlights the gendered impact of the crisis, with a surge in widows and female-headed households. It also mentions the high number of women of reproductive age, including pregnant women, in need of support.
