GitHub users may be at risk from ghost accounts, million users at risk

Check Point Research uncovered the ‘Stargazers Ghost Network’ on GitHub, managed by Stargazer Goblin, which distributed malware to millions. The network used ghost accounts and a Distribution as a Service model. Victims faced ransomware and stolen credentials. This discovery raised concerns about open-source platform security and urged users to be cautious of executable download links from repositories.
