Govt mandates Airtel, Jio and others to compensate users for service outage

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) updated its quality standards for access and broadband services, mandating telecom operators to compensate subscribers during service outages. TRAI increased the penalty for failing quality benchmarks and introduced requirements for displaying technology-specific coverage maps and publishing QoS performance. Significant outages will lead to rent rebates or validity extensions for affected customers.
