Govt suspends two telemarketing cos over sending 5.5M fraud SMSes

The Department of Telecommunications has suspended operations of V-con Intelligent Security and OneXtel Media for sending fraudulent SMSes. Over 55 million malicious messages were sent since January 2024. DoT orders telecom service providers to take action against the companies. OneXtel Media denies allegations and questions the government’s decision.
