Hardliner Karat back at helm, but no major change expected in CPI(M) stance

Following Sitaram Yechury’s demise, CPI(M) has named Prakash Karat as interim general secretary. Known for his staunch Marxist views, Karat will guide the party until a new leader is chosen next year. The upcoming CPI(M) Congress in April 2025 will address the party’s direction and alliances in detail.
