HC forms panel to probe protesting farmer’s death
The Punjab and Haryana high court established a committee led by a retired high court judge to probe the death of farmer Shubhkaran Singh. The incident occurred on February 21 during a clash between protesting farmers and Haryana police at the Haryana-Punjab border. Jaishree Thakur, a former judge of the High Court, will chair the committee, which will receive support from two ADGPs: Amitabh Dhillon from Haryana police and Pramod Ban from Punjab police. The high court noted that Punjab attempted to distance itself from the investigation into Shubhkaran’s death.
