High costs may derail plan for aluminum Vande Bharat coaches

Indian Railways decided against aluminum-bodied Vande Bharat trains with sleeper facilities due to high costs and lack of local expertise. Instead, it plans to produce 24-coach sleeper trains using indigenous technologies to reduce prices. A previous tender for 100 aluminum trains was canceled after cost disagreements with Alstom India.
