Hosp checkup reveals 15-yr-old’s pregnancy

A 15-year-old girl in Pune was found to be three months pregnant during a hospital examination. She revealed that she had been married off by her parents in November last year. The hospital reported the matter to the police, who have registered a case of rape and offenses under the POCSO Act against the girl’s husband. Charges under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act were also registered against her parents, parents-in-law, and a relative. The girl’s family and her husband’s family are all casual workers living in a small house in a slum area.
