How EU’s blow to Google, Facebook may affect Pornhub, XVideos

The European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA) now includes adult content websites Pornhub, Stripchat, and XVideos. These platforms have been added to a list of platforms subject to the strictest level of regulation under the DSA. The change requires these websites to implement age verification for visitors. The European Commission designated them as Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) due to their high number of monthly users in the EU. The Commission aims to create a safer online environment for children and enforce compliance with DSA obligations, such as addressing illegal content dissemination and producing risk assessment reports. The Commission will closely monitor the platforms’ compliance and engage with them accordingly.
