How new law will tackle unfair practices in public exams

The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 targets unfair practices in public exams such as NEET and UGC NET. It was passed in the Budget session and approved by President Droupadi Murmu. The Act applies to exams conducted by entities like UPSC and prohibits cheating and unauthorized disclosures. Offenders face severe penalties, including imprisonment and fines. Authorities like Railway Recruitment Board and NTA are included in the Act’s scope.
