In middle of paddy harvest, rain may play spoilsport
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted “fairly widespread rainfall activity” in Punjab on October 15 and 16, which could affect paddy harvesting. Isolated rainfall is predicted for October 14 and 17. This could hamper harvesting as it increases moisture in the grains. The forecast is due to a western disturbance and an induced cyclonic circulation expected to form over central Pakistan. After the system passes, dry northwesterly winds are likely to prevail over northwest India.
