In rare move, SC takes up Kolkata case, may look at doctors’ safety

The Supreme Court took suo motu cognisance of the rape-murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s R G Kar hospital on August 9. A bench headed by CJI D Y Chandrachud will initiate proceedings on Tuesday. The SC intervention follows the vandalism incident at the hospital and aims to address the safety of healthcare professionals across India.
