Indian org hit by 15% more weekly hackings in 2023: Report

A report by Check Point Research reveals that in 2023, India experienced a 15% increase in cyber attacks per week per organization. The cyber threat landscape saw an evolution, particularly in ransomware attacks, with a shift towards data theft and extortion-based campaigns. Two prominent attack campaigns, MOVEit and GoAnywhere incidents, focused on extortion rather than traditional encryption-based ransomware. India emerged as the second most targeted nation in the Asia Pacific region, with 2,138 weekly attacks per organization. Globally, one in every 10 organizations experienced attempted ransomware attacks, marking a surge of 33% from the previous year.
