A lawsuit has been filed against Panera Bread after a young student with a heart condition died from consuming the restaurant’s “charged lemonade.” The lawsuit claims that Panera failed to adequately warn customers about the drink’s contents, which included high levels of caffeine and sugar. The beverage, promoted as a “plant-based and clean” drink, contained more caffeine than Panera’s dark roast coffee and had the equivalent of nearly 30 teaspoons of sugar.
