Japan international visitors reach 96% of pre-COVID level in September

Japan welcomed over 2 million international visitors for the fourth consecutive month in September, signaling a near full recovery to pre-pandemic levels. Although the Chinese market has been slow to rebound, visitor numbers have reached 96.1% of 2019 levels. The strong demand from markets such as the United States, South Korea, and Singapore has helped compensate for lower figures from mainland China.
