Just 1 in 10 engineering graduates to land a job

Only 10% of this fiscal’s 15 lakh graduating engineers are expected to find employment due to the global economic downturn. IT companies are reducing fresher hiring by 35-40% compared to the previous fiscal. The hiring of engineering graduates is projected to reach pre-pandemic levels, with 1.6 lakh freshers to be recruited. However, companies are now favoring mid-level employees with 7-12 years of experience. The domestic talent pool has seen an influx of US-based techies. Skills proficiency is crucial, as only 45% of engineering graduates meet industry requirements.
