Kerala issues first-ever guidelines for treatment of rare Amoebic Meningoencephalitis

The Kerala health department has taken a groundbreaking step by releasing a set of specialized guidelines for managing amoebic meningoencephalitis, a rare and often fatal brain infection. This marks the first time such a comprehensive approach has been undertaken in India. The infection, which is caused by free-living amoeba found in contaminated water sources, has been responsible for a number of deaths in the state recently.
