KGMU, SGPGI to offer world-class cancer cure

King George’s Medical University (KGMU) and the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Uttar Pradesh, India, will collaborate with the government to produce CAR-T cells for cancer treatment. CAR-T cells are a type of immunotherapy currently available in developed countries and the private sector in Mumbai and Bangalore. KGMU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Soniya Nityanand, stated that the project aims to make targeted cancer treatment affordable and that funds have already been approved. The event also emphasized the importance of early detection, nutrition, mental health, and the role of caretakers in cancer treatment.
