Kolkata doctor murder: Will hang accused if needed, says CM Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee stated that the government would seek the death penalty for those accused of sexually assaulting and murdering a postgraduate trainee doctor. She supported junior doctors’ protests and mentioned that the state is open to a CBI investigation. She requested healthcare services to continue during the protests and assured a fast-track trial for the case.
