Kolkata rape-murder: Mamata Banerjee writes to PM Narendra Modi, tries to put focus on rapes elsewhere too

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has urged PM Narendra Modi to establish fast track courts specifically for rape cases, with trials aimed to be completed within 15 days. TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee reiterated the need for swift justice and called for larger reforms. He highlighted that 90 rapes occur daily in India, emphasizing the urgent need for a comprehensive anti-rape law. Both leaders called on state governments to push the Centre for legislation ensuring timely trials and severe punishments to address the crisis and assure public safety.
