The Supreme Court directed the Union government to remove the name, photos, and video clips of the Kolkata rape-murder victim from social media and electronic platforms. The bench led by CJI D Y Chandrachud stated that disclosing a rape victim’s identity violates dignity and contravenes the SC’s 2019 judgment. The directive followed a petition challenging the disclosure on social media.
