Last safety study on FOBs in 2018, NHAI starts fixing E Delhi structure
The National Highways Authority of India is replacing the steel girder of a foot overbridge in east Delhi that partially collapsed. It has been revealed that the last safety study of foot overbridges was conducted in 2018. The study concluded that subways were the most preferred choice for pedestrians. The collapse occurred when an over-dimensional cargo got stuck under the bridge. Experts suggest regulating the movement of such cargo to prevent future incidents. The bridge is under the care of NHAI and repairs are being coordinated with the Public Works Department. A case of negligent driving has been lodged and the driver has been arrested.
