Late ex-Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur to get Bharat Ratna

Late former Bihar chief minister Karpoori Thakur will be posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna. PM Narendra Modi expressed delight for Thakur being recognized during his birth centenary. Thakur championed the cause of the backward classes and implemented pro-poor initiatives during his tenure as chief minister. He passed away in February 1988.
