Local business owner fined for violating packaging rules

A Thane magistrate court has fined a local shop owner Rs 25,000 for failing to provide mandatory labelling on pre-packaged mint cubes, violating the Legal Metrology Act and Packaged Commodities Rules. The business owner pleaded guilty and was convicted under Section 36(1) of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. This was their first offence.
