The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has selected two private companies from Hyderabad and Pune to clear over 20 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste accumulated at its solid waste management plant. The waste, which has been accumulating for the past decade, will be reduced and processed to generate revenue. The companies will bid for the financial tender and set up machines capable of processing 5,000 metric tonnes of waste daily. The waste will be compressed and segregated to produce construction materials, fuel, and compost. Additionally, separate tenders have been awarded for daily waste generation and door-to-door collection.
