Luggage weight: Flyer told to reduce 100gm
Automated baggage drop machines at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru have eliminated the leeway for airline ground staff to accommodate minor variations in weight limits. Passengers must adhere to the stipulated weight limits as even a 100 gram excess can have consequences. A woman recently had to remove items from her bag on the spot to shed the extra weight, as the machine refused to accept her bag that was 0.1kg heavier than the prescribed allowance. The machines are calibrated to accept only bags weighing 15kg, with no provision for adjustment.
