Maoists have claimed responsibility for the murder of a BJP leader in Chhattisgarh and warned that those seeking votes in Bastar will meet the same fate. The Maoists hung a banner at a polling booth in Sukma warning people not to vote. The leader, Birju Taram, was shot dead by three men on a motorcycle after attending an election meeting. This is the sixth murder of a BJP worker by Maoists this year. The authenticity of leaflets claiming responsibility for the murder is being verified by the police.
