Missing Mangaluru businessman’s body found in river, 6 booked on charges of extortion

The body of businessman B M Mumtaz Ali, missing for over 24 hours, was found in the Phalguni River. His vehicle was discovered damaged near Kulur bridge. A complaint alleges six persons extorted Rs 50 lakh from him since July 2024, threatening to tarnish his reputation. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
