The Madras High Court has denied bail to Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges of money laundering. The court stated that bail cannot be granted on medical grounds for a person arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Balaji had submitted in his bail application that he had been in prison for over 100 days and had cooperated with the ED during his custodial interrogation. The ED opposed the plea, stating that Balaji could influence or threaten witnesses if released on bail.
