More young women in Chennai are getting breast cancer

Breast cancer is now affecting more women in their early 30s, with younger women facing more aggressive cancers that are less likely to respond to treatment. The incidence rate of breast cancer has increased by 7% over the past 15 years, with a 1.5% annual increase among women aged 25 to 40. Breast cancer has become the most prevalent cancer among Indian women, with cases doubling over the years. Factors such as genetic predisposition, delayed childbirth, sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy eating habits, and air pollution are believed to contribute to the rise in breast cancer cases. Early detection and adopting healthy behaviors are recommended to reduce the risk.
