New World Bank Loss and Damage fund names first director

The World Bank has announced Ibrahima Cheikh Diong as the first director of The Fund for responding to Loss and Damage. Created in 2022, this fund aims to assist countries impacted by climate-driven disasters. With $800 million pledged at COP28, it seeks to offer tangible financial support for those disproportionately affected.
