NGT halts mining near Ganga in Rishikesh

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) banned mining at Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh due to unauthorized sand and gravel excavation by contractor Akash Jain. The District Magistrate’s actions regarding the joint committee report were deemed unlawful. The NGT scheduled the next hearing for November 21.
