Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Friday, stated that the Muslim community might become the majority in the state by 2041. He justified his claim by pointing out that the Muslim population in Assam is growing around 30 percent every decade, compared to the Hindu population growth of 16 percent. “Muslims have now become 40 percent of Assam’s population as per statistical sampling,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
