Opium cultivation in Yavatmal’s cotton fields, 200 quintals of poppy seized

Clandestine poppy cultivation amidst vast swathes of cotton fields in Yavatmal district was unearthed after more than 200 quintals of poppy plants were seized by police at Ghonsara village on Wednesday. Agriculture department officials have been called to confirm whether the cache was opium poppies, said superintendent of police, Yavatmal, Pawan Bansod.
