The Pakistani government has proposed a deadline of October 31 for unregistered Afghan families to leave the country, causing concern among those settled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Only refugees with proof of registration or other legal documents will not be deported. Around 700,000 Afghans live in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the highest number settled in the provincial capital. Police have also arrested hundreds of unregistered Afghans this year.
