Political tensions in Sri Lanka over entitlements for former presidents

A committee in Sri Lanka will review the privileges of former presidents, following President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s campaign promise to end such benefits. The President’s office denies reports that ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s security has been reduced, amidst opposition criticism and concerns over his safety from LTTE threats.
