Property tax: BBMP can now order attachment of bank accounts of defaulters in Bengaluru

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has gained new powers to recover property tax arrears by attaching the bank accounts of defaulters. With around three lakh properties on the tax default list, BBMP issued a notification allowing them to serve attachment warrants to banks and take action under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita-2023 if banks fail to comply.
