Rain pounds Tamil Nadu: Govt seeks help of armed forces

Terming the rainfall in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts as unprecedented, Tamil Nadu chief secretary Shiv Das Meena on Monday said that the state government has requested the three armed forces to assist the administration in rescuing the stranded people in the state. IAF choppers from Sulur airbase will airdrop food packets in the flood affected areas. One person was electrocuted in Tuticorin due to rain. Buses will only be operated up to Kovilpatti and Virudhunagar.
