‘Shared intent’ sufficient ground for conviction in gang-rape case: HC

The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court upheld the convictions of four men for gang rape, stating that direct participation in the assault is not necessary to establish guilt if there is evidence of shared intent. The men were sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2015 crime, involving physical restraint and rape by two of the accused.
