A recent study by Climate Trends and Respirer Living Sciences revealed that Delhi and four other NCR towns were among India’s top 10 most polluted cities. Delhi recorded an average PM2.5 concentration of 100.1 micrograms per cubic meter, three times the government’s standard and twenty times the safe limit defined by the World Health Organization. However, there was a slight improvement in air quality over the past year. The study also assessed the air quality of major state capitals, finding that Mumbai’s air worsened while Delhi’s and Lucknow’s improved.
