Slovenia nuclear plant could be operational again next month once pipeline fixed
Slovenia’s only nuclear power plant, Krsko, is undergoing repairs for a pipeline leak and is expected to resume operations in November. The leak occurred on the primary circuit’s connection system and the damaged part is being replaced. As a preventive measure, the safety injection system’s pipeline will also be replaced. The Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration is overseeing the repair works. Krsko supplies about 20% of the electrical energy demand in Slovenia and 16% in Croatia. It was built in cooperation with Westinghouse Electric Corporation and started operating in 1982.
