Taj hotel breach: Company response, ransom demanded & more
Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) is investigating claims of a data breach after personal details of about 1.5 million people may have been compromised at the Tata-owned Taj Hotels group. The breach was reported by a threat actor named ‘Dnacookies’ who is demanding $5,000 for the full dataset. IHCL has notified the relevant authorities and stated that there is no current security issue or impact on business operations. The breach raises concerns as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act recommends penalties of up to Rs 250 crore for data breaches.
