There’s a battery that runs on water: It’s in Switzerland
Switzerland has unveiled the Nant de Drance water battery, a massive energy storage system nestled in the Swiss Alps. The water battery can store enough electricity to power 400,000 electric vehicle batteries and took 14 years to build. It works by moving water between two containers at different heights, charging the battery when there is excess power and releasing it when needed. This innovative battery helps stabilize electricity in Europe and supports the switch to renewable energy sources.
